Exhibition Overview
“SEND ME” takes a profound look at the historical and current challenges artists face under
political repression, weaving a narrative that spans different eras and geographies
This exhibition brings together three contemporary artists in conversation with Transition Magazine.
Charity Atukunda, Elsadig Janka and Gloria Kiconco will show newly commissioned artwork. Each artist uses their unique process and medium, ranging from illustration to photography to zine making as a staging ground to explore questions of freedom and movement. Linking vast biographies across Africa and the USA, these artworks connect the legacy of Uganda’s literary heritage in the 1960s and 1970s to today’s concerns of security. The artwork is displayed in an immersive setting to reveal the deeply intimate issues of expression and matters of globalised conflict.
